The Finnish Government’s and Mediapooli’s influencer marketing campaign #coronafacts that was executed by influencer marketing agency PING Helsinki has been chosen as the best Pro Bono campaign in the international Influencer Marketing Awards 2021 competition.
The campaign was unique on an international scale and served as an example for other countries.
“It’s incredible to see a government body recognise the power of social influencers and deem them as critical actors in a crisis”, the judges comment.
The goal of the Spring 2020 #coronafacts campaign was to offer social media influencers reliable information about coronavirus directly from authorities and to encourage them to share the information forward to their followers. The campaign was executed together with hundreds of social media influencers on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
“We are very honoured and proud that the Finnish creativity and brave open-mindedness succeed internationally. The role of social media influencers in governmental crisis communication has proven to be extremely important and Finland has yet again shown an example to the world. This recognition gives a significant boost for the internationalisation of PING Helsinki”, rejoices the company’s Head of Growth Tuomo Meretniemi.
Influencer Marketing Awards is an international influencer marketing competition that was held for the third time this year. Its mission is to bring forward exceptionally successful influencer marketing campaigns that combine outstanding planning, successful execution, creativity and innovation. The two other finalists of the Pro Bono category were Ogilvy UK’s #protectyourhero campaign for WHO and SEEN Connects’ #ClapForOurCarers for the NHS. PING Helsinki’s #coronafacts was the only Finnish campaign that made it to the shortlist.
The Influencer Marketing Awards panel of judges consisted of internationally significant marketing players (link to listing below). The panel included e.g. Julien Wettstein, Head of Creator Solutions at TikTok; Becky Owen, Head of Branded Content at Facebook; and Firdaous El Honsali, Senior Director of Global Communication and Sustainability at Unilever.
